An original A.F.S. breast pocket badge, post-war style. Measures 69mm high by 67mm wide. The A.F.S. were active during the early part of World War Two, then being re-named the National Fire Service. The A.F.S. name was brought back into use once they reformed as part of the Civil Defence Corps in 1949.
