Original Civil Defence Corps (1949-1968)
The Auxiliary Fire Service and Civil Defence Corps were established in 1949, in a similar format to the Civil Defence organisations of World War Two. They were re-formed essentally in response to rising tensions at the start of the Cold War. Some WW2 style insignia were re-used, but with a paler yellow thread than their wartime counterparts. Most units were deactivated in 1968.
